Dr. Castillo Explains Rhinoplasty
Dr. Castillo discusses rhinoplasty, which enhances the structure of the nose, versus septoplasty, which improves breathing. Combining the two can produce life-changing effects for the right patients. He also explains the difference between a closed and open rhinoplasty.
“Dr. Castillo gave me a better functioning and the most beautiful nose I could ever dream of having. When the cast was removed my life changed. My expectations were exceeded. I would not trade this experience for the world.”— Yadira, 5-Star Review

Benefits of a Rhinoplasty Procedure
Improve Confidence
Make a change that can affect how you look and how you feel. If you're unhappy with your nose, rhinoplasty can enhance your self-confidence.
Improve Breathing
A rhinoplasty can be a great procedure to help patients struggling with a deviated septum or an injured nose. Our ear, nose, and throat specialist, Dr. Carlo Pedroza, helps treat various breathing issues at our Tijuana, Mexico, practice.
Achieve Harmony
A rhinoplasty can achieve changes that provide a better complement to your overall face shape, as well as features like your eyes and smile.
Combining Rhinoplasty With Septoplasty
Dr. Castillo partners with Dr. Pedroza, an ear, nose, and throat specialist, to ensure rhinoplasty can be safely combined with septoplasty. He has found that performing the two procedures at the same time produces better outcomes. The two have worked together for about 20 years.
“Dr. Castillo is amazing and I love the look of my new nose!! There were no complications with the surgery and I was given great after care instructions that ensured an even better recovery. I will definitely be coming back here!”— Sofia, 5-Star Review
Open vs. Closed Nose Job

Open Rhinoplasty
An open rhinoplasty involves small incisions on the exterior of the nose for better access to inner tissues. Since the incisions are small and placed in discreet areas, visible scarring is minimal. In some cases, this type of plastic surgery can produce better results in patients who have undergone previous surgeries.

Closed Rhinoplasty
Dr. Castillo performs most nose reshaping procedures using closed rhinoplasty, in which all incisions are made inside the nose. This process leaves no visible scarring and reduces recovery time since you'll have less swelling.
A Look at the Process
Dr. Castillo will determine if you're a good candidate for rhinoplasty surgery during your consultation. If you are, you can schedule your surgery date. Your procedure will involve several steps:
“From the consultation with Dr Castillo to the transportation to the hospital to the recovery house and their staff....so professional, clean, helpful, and knowledgeable. Changed my life! Thank you!” — Lisa, 5-Star Review

Aftercare Tips
Change Gauze
The internal dressings and splint that your plastic surgeon places will remain untouched for up to a week after your nose job. During this time, all you have to do is replace the piece of gauze, sometimes called the "drip pad," that's placed below your nose.
Avoid Strenuous Activity
The most important thing you can do in recovery is to relax. Avoid strenuous activity until Dr. Castillo gives you the green light to begin exercising again.
Be Gentle With Facial Movements
It's natural to smile, laugh, blow your nose, move your upper lip when brushing your teeth, and pull your clothes over your head. However, all of these activities can disrupt your splint. Be mindful of these impulses to avoid disrupting incisions.
